By 7pm, teams had already started arriving at the venue to reconnect with friends and prepare for the contest ahead. Early arrivals were rewarded with bonus points for punctuality, setting the tone for an engaging night before the official start at 8pm.

Inside the venue, background music mixed with animated discussions as teams confidently prepared to outperform their rivals.

Some answers, however, turned out to be hilariously incorrect, drawing bursts of laughter from across the room.

Throughout the evening, the quiz sessions highlighted the importance of teamwork and collaboration, with teammates whispering suggestions, debating possible answers, and celebrating victories together after each round.

Winning teams received Black & White pitchers to share among themselves during breaks, while the overall champions walked away with a bottle of Black & White whisky.

The event was hosted by quiz master Regan Rwabuhoro, who guided participants through five quiz rounds while reminding teams to avoid using phones and maintain fair play.

One of the evening’s standout moments came during a round focused on Uganda’s hospitals, where participants were asked to identify health facilities from images displayed on screen. To the amusement of many attendees, several teams struggled to recognise some of the country’s major hospitals, sparking laughter and reflection in equal measure.

“My tribe and I never miss quiz nights, especially on Fridays, and we try to attend at least three every week,” said Janice Atuhaire.

“The energy is always joyful, and every time I come here, I learn something new. I’ve made amazing friends through these sessions and honestly, it never feels like a wasted night.”

According to Raymond Karama, the growing popularity of quiz nights reflects the increasing importance of social spaces where people can connect meaningfully.

“At Black & White, we believe the best moments are the ones people share,” Karama said.

“Quiz nights continue to show us how powerful connection can be when people come together to laugh, think, learn and celebrate as a team. Beyond the drinks, it is the shared experiences, friendships and memories created in these spaces that truly define the spirit of sharing.”

As Kampala’s social scene evolves, Black & White’s quiz nights continue to carve out a unique place where entertainment, learning, and human connection meet around one table.
